The base is of heavy cast iron with leveling screws and vertical rod is nicely polished supplied complete with 4 mass hangers and 12 masses (2 x 10 g, 2 x 20 g, 4 x 50 g, 4 x 100 gm).

Designed to operate on a 12V AC supply and uses the mains frequency as its timing standard. The unit is housed in a moulded case including mounting flanges. The top of the case carries a tape guide which incorporates a carbon paper disc support and an adjustable anvil for the striker point. This instrument is use for the measurement of velocity and acceleration, using timing marks made on a moving paper tape by a vibrating striker. All moving parts are fully enclosed and a pair of 4mm sockets is provided on the side of the case for connection of the electrical supply.
